Journalling Technique – Topic of the Day
written June 4, 2019 by Nicky Torode
Do you ever get stuck on what to write about in your journal every day? In my experience, this is a key reason why some people give up on # journalling. Here is a simple technique to take away that worry of what to write. The 16 day daily topic technique, as detailed in Kathleen Adam’s excellent book, Journal to the Self, will have you writing – and tracking – your key business thoughts. Write the numbers 1-15 down the left hand side of your page. Now, without overthinking, list key ideas/worries, big and small, that you have about your business down the page. One idea per number. Add in number 16 which is a two-week review. This 2 week topic list is then repeated with the same topics for the second half of the month (17-30)#. For example 1 LinkedIn content 2 Income/expenditure log 3 Pitch to business magazine 4 Deleting old emails 5 Synching up devices 6 CPD training 7 etc 15 Two-week review Those numbers are the date and the topic for the day! Now when you pick up your journal you have a ready, self- made topic. And the beauty of this system is, you write about it again in two weeks. This enables you to track progress and make key decisions. Give it a go and see the difference it can make to your business.
